Early Dinner at Chili's Grill & Bar, Gurney Plaza

Put my love for varieties in food, I have a man who loves Citrus Fire Chicken & Prawns. Chili's, McD's, anything very-the-chicken is his favourite. So you see I often have these type of food here... To celebrate our little ''farewell'' before he flies off to LA for a few weeks of work - we decided to have a nice dinner at Chili's Grill & Bar. I miss him already :-( and it has only been 2 days!!! I can't wait for him to comeback!
The first time I ate Chili's was at BSC, and oh my, I loved the food - it's really good. I wondered, back then, why they had not opened one in Penang. Until about a year ago, I saw that red chili signature printed on this renovated shoplot - wow. Chili's is finally coming to Penang! We waited and waited, they kept delaying the opening, and finally opened. - You can hardly get to be seated!
The food was initially not as good as I expected - like the one in KL and so I decided to not go there... but against all odds, I still go there sometimes and normally order the Triple Play. This time, however - reassured me that the food and service has tremendously improved since its establishment in Gurney Plaza. :-) I really enjoyed the dining this time.Dining here would not be excellent without Dip dip dip... I get quite stuffed by just eating this - while waiting for my food to come. But tostadas are just a basket of tostadas chips and tomato salsa. So addictive - once you start, you just can't stop! Normally, we would be asking for a refill o this, but not tonight!I decided to try something new - their Chicken Crispers. Big strips of hand battered chicken meat in a crispy batter. This is good. I love it... I didn't really like the honey mustard sauce that it came with.. I wish they had given an option of what dipping sauce you want - and I'd choose either BBQ or Sweet N' Sour... (Just like McD's hehe..). The chicken came with 2 side dishes - home style fried fries, and a lovely golden yellow corn. Yumm... No thanks to the tostadas chips - I could not finish my meal! So I had it packed for home. Neva eva waste food!It was not only the tostadas that made me full - It was this. My Vanilla Coke with unlimited refills. I kept sipping and sipping between my chips... it just felt so good! Somehow Heinz's Chili Sauce taste distinctively different from other brands of chili sauce. Guess what I normally do with my chili sauce?? - I sprinkle black pepper over it. Lots of it, actually. I just like it that way.. especially when eating my chips! Mmmphh. The guy's favourite - Citrus Fire Chicken & Prawns. Not that he squeezed that piece of lime that it came with to make it all citrusieee... I kinda like this one too, the rice taste good. In fact, today it tasted really good than other days! I did not quite like the veges in this one - i guess they are just plain... broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and tomatoes. I think they are probably frozen ones or steamed, but either... I guess I like other veges better!
As we ended our main meals, we just wanted to sit longer and have a dessert. So he asked me if I wanted to share, cos he won't be able to finish it. "Sure, why not?!" and so we ordered the Chocolate Nut Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream, and Chocolate Fudge, toppled with a piece of Maraschino Cherry. This was a lovely yummilicious dessert! I took smaller bites till, I suddenly heard him asking "I finish it ok?" and realised that he had devoured so much more of our half n' half portion! "Hmm, and you were saying... that you could not finish it??" He he he... I love him regardless.
The Molten Chocolate Cake with ice cream is heavenly too, but toooooo sweet for my taste. Scared of the high level of sugar it contained, we just decided to not order that..

So that's it, I enjoyed my dinner at Chili's this time! :-)
